Rugby School round gilt shield to front cover. Gilt decoration to spine with five raised bands. Red label to top of spine with title in gilt letters.  Top and bottom of spine shows shelf wear. Outer guttering back and front scuffed. Corners rubbed. Marbled end papers and marbling to edges of text block which is slightly faded. Book plate to front paste down dated 1889.  Frontispiece depicting ' The Spectre of Tappington'.  Preface to the second edition to Richard Bentley esq. Binding tight.  Pre-owned. No ISBN.
